Big Five volunteering in South Africa
I volunteered at the South Africa Amakhala Big 5 Conservation. I chose this programme out of the many volunteer programmes TMR have to offer because it offers the chance to work in both animal conservation and in the local community. I had the best experience and would love to return in the future. TMR made the process leading up to the trip so smooth and I would recommend them to anyone looking for an experience similar to mine.Nursing elective in Tanzania
After lots of researching, I signed up for the medical programme in Tanzania, where I had the opportunity to work in two different hospitals and multiple different departments/wards and communities. As a student paediatric nurse the experience hugely enhanced my knowledge and understanding of healthcare in other cultures and it was the most incredible, eye-opening 4 weeks which I will remember forever.Helping elephants and rhinos in Zimbabwe
My name is Ella and I’m 19 years old and volunteered with The Mighty Roar for 9 weeks in 3 different programmes. I spent 7 weeks in South Africa and 2 in Zimbabwe. My last leg of the trip was over to Zimbabwe where I was a Volunteer at the Elephant and Rhino Sanctuary for 2 weeks. This trip was the most amazing, life changing experience for me and I can’t stop talking about it!Volunteering with the Maasai in Tanzania
I recently travelled to Tanzania to help at the local childcare centre and it was the most life changing experience of my life. Throughout my whole time spent in Moshi, a day didn’t go by where i felt unwelcome or unsafe. the hostel feels like a home and everyone from the workers to the children to the people of Tanzania made my experience unforgettable - going above and beyond to make your experience the best.Teaching and childcare in Thailand
I wanted to do something over the summer that would give me some unique and long lasting experiences and memories before I go to uni, and I came across the mighty roar when I was looking for volunteering opportunities. I was extremely nervous to travel on my own to a different continent, and to immerse myself in a culture so different from what I’m used to, but the support offered pre departure was amazing.Sea turtle conservation in Sri Lanka
I signed up for a 4-week turtle conservation program in Sri Lanka because I’ve always been passionate about marine wildlife and wanted to do something hands-on that would make a real difference. The support from TMR before I left was amazing—whenever I had a question, they got back to me super fast, which really helped calm any nerves and made the whole process smooth.Looking after children in South Africa
My programme was at a daycare with children. I went everyday during the week and it was so much fun! All the children were lovely and smiley and they completely warmed my heart. People in Cape Town were so friendly and I was fascinated with what they had to talk about. Volunteering with The Mighty Roar was one of the most fulfilling and unforgettable experiences I have done.Volunteering with elephants in Thailand
I volunteered at an amazing elephant sanctuary in Thailand and it’s definitely an experience I will never forget! Before coming out the pre-departure team helped so much including receiving the pre-departure handbook and the local team and elephant mahouts were all so friendly and accommodating. I would definitely recommend the project and would love to return one day soon!Teaching and childcare volunteering in Ghana
I signed up solo to spend six weeks volunteering in the schools in Ghana in between my second and third year of university, and had the most special summer! I spent my time volunteering in the public and private schools in Busua which both had amazing staff and children who welcomed all volunteers with open arms. I spent plenty of time on the beautiful beach getting to know the other volunteers, who are now friends I will have for life.Read helpful reviews
